Nurturing Wisdom, Kindness, and Cultural Roots

At Mahamevnawa, we understand that as parents, you seek to provide your children with the best education to help them grow, develop, and flourish in life. While academic achievements are important, it is equally vital that education nurtures positive qualities, values, and habits that form the foundation of a compassionate and meaningful life.

Mahamevnawa Sunday School is committed to fostering these essential human qualities while imparting knowledge.

What We Teach

Buddhist Values & Dhamma Lessons

Golden Buddha statue in a wooden temple, surrounded by small Buddha statues on shelves, with a flower arrangement in front.

Students explore foundational teachings of the Buddha — such as the Five Precepts, the Four Noble Truths, and the importance of generosity, respect, and patience. Lessons are delivered through stories, crafts, group discussions, and role play.

Sinhala Language & Cultural Learning

Children learn to read, write, and converse in Sinhala through fun, interactive lessons. This helps them stay connected to their Sri Lankan heritage while building confidence in their cultural identity.

Community Projects & Activities

The Sunday School regularly participates in community projects from tree-planting and Clean Up Australia Day to charity drives and temple volunteer work. Through service, students learn to express compassion through action.
